We're gonna talk about our 3 concrete ideas for our position

 

LISTEN TO EACH OTHER

 

STUDENT LIFE (Sarah + Kush)

 

Met w/ Keiron

 

→ Have the committee be motivated

 

→ What do they want to address?

 

→ Don't do anything they don't want to do

 

→ Bring results of survey to first meeting

 

→ Don't make big deal at general meeting; defer questions to after the meeting

 

→ Have committee members give reports; senator empowerment

 

→ HAVE FUN

 

→ Good relationship w/ administrators

 

→ Major issues: Cable, Murray Hall, Key Card (Campus Center)

 

→ Email Sue Plunket (Winslow)

 

Changes

 

→ Attendance issues (people need to want to be on the committee!)

→ Committees picked during Senate Overview

 

→ WE give a brief overview of the duties of the committees

 

→ Let them pick

 

→ Lets us get to know the senators a little better

→ Logistics within Rules

 

Key Points:

 

→ Cable

 

→ Participation on surveys (amount, demographics [affiliations, etc])

 

→ Comment Card System (Brooks, McKins)

 

→ ATM

 

→ Get feedback from EVERYONE (including people on cabinet and random students)

 

FINANCE (Skyler)

 

→ Make Finance a more welcoming environment

 

→ Get more people knowing how to request money (apply for credit card, how/where to get funding)

 

→ Make committee run more efficient; reduce number of reentry

 

→ Balancing the behind-the-scenes work between the two positions

 

→ Will have more for budgeting on Sunday

→ Financial Controller should take responsibilitiy of reimbursement, making checks, credit cards

 

Gena

 

→ Would it be feseable to have training sessions throughout the year?

 

→ People could just come and learn how to make a budget request, find alternate sources of funding

 

Larry

 

→ Before the Finance meeting, send out an email, invite people to office hours to talk over requests

 

Skyler

 

→ One problem that we have is that a lot of things are last minute, or people don't submit but show up

→ Force the deadline (make it Sunday at 5 instead of Tuesday at 5)

→ Sometimes we don't have time to review the budgets (agreed)

 

SUSTAINABILITY (Garrett)

 

→ Didn't meet w/ Brian yet

 

→ CU Boulder University

 

→ SCORE (Student and Community Outreach for Renter Efficiency)

 

→ Studen housing with more efficient lightbulbs, air conditioning, etc.

 

→ Outdoor recycling bins w/ every trash can

 

→ Recycling Bin Grant (?)

 

→ Dorm Move-out recycling program (people throw away SO MUCH STUFF when moving out)

 

→ Giving First-Years a NICE water bottle they will use

→ Composing an application for committee

 

→ Have meetings at end of this semester; hit ground running

 

→ This Wednesday, Diversity Coalition is meeting to talk about relationship w/ Katie's Role

→ Trainings for ASG Senate/Cabinet

 

→ Hold open forums

 

→ Collaborating w/ CS and Meadville to educate + raise awareness

 

→ Focus on privlege awareness

DIRECTOR OF STUDENT VOTING (Brogan McGowan)

 

→ Larry has been CCing

 

→ Learning about these elections

 

→ Some contacts from Larry

 

→ Speaking at matriculation for the incoming first-years

 

→ Get face out there; students feel comfortable talking to Brogan

 

→ Will be as much work as I make it (intend to make it a lot)

 

→ Want to be involved with ALLA DA COMMITTEES

 

→ Sitting in on committees is important; staying educated

 

→ Bringing these things to the campus

 

→ MORE CAMPUS-INVOLVED VOTING

 

→ Inspire in transparency

 

→ By opening up these conservations, people will hopefully be more active in voting, which will 

 

hopefully lead to more voting in general elections for senate

 

→ Campaign time should be FUN AND EXCITING with lots of events

 

→ Boost the morale on campus

→ Revamping the social media (more exposure, more use)
