Kevin - Budget Hearing Update
→ Will receive this tomorrow in ASG General
→ Yesterday, clubs came in and proposed their budgets; various factors
→ MET ALL DA CLUBS
→ Working on w/ Aurora: keeping tabs on all clubs
→ ASG Club Directory (what we do for them, what they do for us, what they need, etc.)
→ Ease tensions between clubs
→ Lots of clubs requested money for posters and money...all of this is available in OSI, needs
broadcasting
→ Pre-Health organization (Pre-Health, Pre-Vet, Pre-Therapy, Pre-TherapySocialWork)
→ (Aurora knows all of this, fyi)

→ (for Kush and Sarah) A lot of things in OSI are broken/not usable (This was the biggest complaint!)

→ Needs a simple confrontation w/OSI

→ SEA (Students for Environmental Action) came in with a good budget, came in with a HUGE
budget increase
→ Will work w/ Bill Ross for sports (clubs need money for coaches, who do you fund, Bill Ross?)
→ Disconnect between departments and clubs for that department (honors societies); departments
stopped giving them funding; ex, ACM

→ ES department does “green dinners”; how can we make the departments work with the clubs?

→ What do they need funding for?

→ History honor society has their kick-off barbeque
→ Religious organizations have weird relationships with the Office of Spiritual Life
→ BASICALLY, we need to work on communication with everyone

→ We're not “the police”, but we need to encourage clubs to interact with the departments
→ Maybe make a form?
→ Sometimes ASG approves clubs w/o understanding the department

→ We'll probably debate this in ASG General tomorrow

→ Let's send out a note that all clubs can come to ASG General to contest budgets

→ Bicentennial Committee
→ Every class should have a service project
→ Larry would be in charge of a 5th
→ Prez, VP, Treas, Sec, 5th
senator in each class in charge of a service project

→ Each class has its service site, but it is spearheaded by ASG

→ Related to other service projects on campus?

→ Doesn't take away from other service projects

→ What other sites are neglected? Don't agree w/ just donating money, don't like working against an
institution that's already there.

→ Nothing is set in stone
→ So if there's a Bonner at the Y, and Class of 2015 wants to work at the Y, the Bonner leads them

→ Would we rotate sites?

→ Senate turnover is what we're concerned with
Larry
→ This will be a meaningful aspect that will add purpose/meaning to ASG
→ People will have time to DO SOMETHING in the committee

→ Gives Senate Classes something to work towards

→ It's important that we're not stepping on the toes of other organizations

→ Let's provide input that will help this program
→ Concerns are good!
