- Some confusion over the budget for new club sports, especially concerning Finance's policy
Aurora Arop
→ Rules won't meet for two weeks (didn't meet last week, Fall break)
Pre-Health
→ Met with all the pre-health-related organizations to encourage more collaboration between event
planning
→ It was really great!
→ They're make a monthly Google Calendar to present at their own clubs
→ They'll have at least one meeting a month where they'll all meet together
Kevin
→ It was pretty awesome. I feel like we actually did something good.
Aurora
They Cced me on their emails! It was great.
Bill Ross
→ Bill Ross gave some goals with respect to his relationship to ASG
→ Talked about the conditional year
→ He said he never got a notification saying that it was completed
Gretchen
→ We went back and voted on it several meetings later
Aurora
→ Bill Ross wants me to write a conditional one year tag
→ Gave me the packet on the website, said I could customize or edit it
→ He'll be the signatory person
→ Wants me to have a small approval letter
→ If we have a written document it would make the process a lot easier
→ That way Finance knows, etc, so we can do normal ASG procedures
Kevin
→ Who else needs a report?
Garrett
→ Can mention the energy challenge
Sarah
→ Meeting on Wednesday with Physical Plant
Aurora
→ Have you thought of collaborating with EA?
Garrett
→ We already are!
Sarah and Kush
→ Looking for two students for Jane Ellen
→ Will send this to Jake who will forward this to the senators
Jake
→ Not Cabinet Report related, but two things
1. The group I went to the OUT for Work Conference with wants to present to ASG
2. Direct Representation email reminders?
Sarah
→ Reads the message from Jane Ellen
→ It's about whether our campus promotes secularism
Kevin
→ October 31st
→ WQLN Challenge
→ Day-long
Sloane
→
Jake
→ So what exactly is the WQLN challenge?
Kevin
→ I don't know! But we're doing it anyway!
Katie
→ One of our committee members decided to stop down
→ We have eight now, which is what we wanted anyway, so we're just going to move forward
→ Tomorrow we're going to have some sort of discussion (unmoderated caucus) about the Allegheny
College Confessions page
→ What sort of actions could ASG do about this page?
Kevin
→ This point is that we're making all of this decisions because that's what we want to do, but I think
that we should open this up to greater discussion
, 11 to noon
Larry
→ We laughed about their soundcloud, but it's something that we should be dealing with
Katie
→ Can we send out an official letter from
Sarah
→ Does ASG have a stance?
Kevin
→ We don't support it
→ Can we get away from the page itself and talk more about the issues that were brought up by the
page?
→ Anything else?
Brogan
→ It's been very emotional for some of us that have been involved in the conversations
→ It's important as a Cabinet to be unified on that we want to say
→ This is one of the larger thngs that we've tackled this year; we need to be a unified Cabinet in front
of the Senate, and everybody should be on the same page before we bring this to the Senate
Kevin
→ That's something that goes for everything
Aurora
→ We're going to go
→ Never have opened the page; just heard what others have said
→ From what I've heard
→ It's happening out there on the web, but the issues that are brought up are so related to issues on our
campus climate, and we should stand against the page
→ The name of our school is attached, and we're all entitled to that name
→ It's just unacceptable
Garrett
→ Totally follow it
→ If we send stuff out, those people might see this as a victory
→ Trying to find that balance is the issue
Brogan
→ Against
→ Complete violation of the statement of community
→ As an organization, we need to come up with a solution or some steps towards figuring what's going
on
Larry
→ Against
→ It's not conducive to the statement of community or what the administrators live by
→ Don't like it, won't like it
Jake
→ Unified front
→ This has been causing some problems in ResLife and in the dorms
Kevin
→ Katie thought it would be better for Kevin to post that statement as himself
→ It was pretty good, and that first page went down and now that second page is up
→ It's kind of snowballing, but the point
Grace
→ Don't know much about the issue beyond what I've heard
→ Definitely do not support it
→ Don't know what we can do to go against it
Skylar
→ Haven't heard anything
→ Living under a rock (Geo majors)
Gretchen
→ If you saw my interview in The Campus
→ Never been on the page, have heard students in the resource room talking about the negative impact
→ It's important to think about all of the negative stuff
→ How do we continue to educate people about our statement of community, support people who have
been upset or hurt, and support the people
Sarah
→ It doesn't bother me personally
→ It definitely isn't good
→ There are some major accusations on the page
→ Do these need to be looked into? That's an issue in and of itself
→ Content is also a big issue
→ Didn't see a single piece of paper from that soundcloud
→ People are gonna be like “free speech!” but really, pick up a ConLaw book
→ At big universities, they have them
→ But people are always going to feel attacked
→ The major issue is the content with inaccusations
Kushtrim
→ We should focus more on the issues
→ It took a massive wrong turn
→ We need to be careful with not accusing anyone
→ Most people here, as we've seen, have not seen it or posted anything on it
Sloane
→ Don't support it
→ Dealing with the Jose Medina problem
→ When we got direct, it really brought forth more problems
→ We have to remove about ten different people, whereas if we left it alone, it would have been less
work
→ It can go away on its own if we talk about the issues and avoid the page
→ Remind people of the statement of community
Katie
→ I feel like everybody knows how I feel about it
→ Confessed that I was going to the discussion (:
Kevin
→ If we need to get a senate member to motion for an unmoderated caucus, this is a time where you
guys can talk about it
- Some argument about the time -
Sarah
→ People can motion for more
Gretchen
→ If it's redundant conversation, try to cut it off
Kevin
→ We could start out with some ideas
→ A forum, a formal statement from us and ResLife, or whomever
Aurora
→ You never know about our student body
→ We should be prepared for a general summary
→ “What does ASG say about this page?”
Kevin
→ Tomorrow is in the CC lobby, tell people we're talking about it!
Meeting End: 9:40
