Beck, Jake Ballinger

Kevin

→ Sloane, loop thing

→ People from the Loop will come to Cabinet next Thursday and then on Tuesday

→ They are unhappy with students being disrespectful to bus drivers and to the bus itself

→ Every three or four years they have a really bad year, and that fight two weekends ago between the

Meadville citizens and the students did not help matters

→ People take it for granted and they don't understand

→ It's a problem when we people start coming back from the bars around 2:00

Brogan

→ Could there be a legitimate capacity aspect?

→ Maybe there needs to be a system where they

Larry

→ In Meadville, the problem is because of Allegheny

→ In Pittsburgh, you have to swipe a card and such

→ This is something that can be looked into, but it would require CATA to reconfigure their buses

Lee → Draft Proposal Commitment to Inclusivity

→ Updates: Safe Zone Training I

Jake

→ $100 reward?

→ Is this coming about because

Brogan

→ Safe Zone and Bystander Trainings are not effective if people are forced to go to them

→ I don't want this sort of incentive to wash out the meaning of these trainings

Katie

→ If people want these $100 they should want to still go to the trainings

→ Right now we're having trouble with people attending the trainings at all because the people who

want to have already been

Lee

→ There is the aspect of the aftertraining, which is a reflection piece

→ That's starting at least something

Larry

→ If this is going to be optional, it needs to be more explicitly noted

Lee

→ One of the great things is that this is for new clubs; $100 for a new club is a lot

→ This is something we value, and this is something that ASG values enough to do it

Larry

→ Katie, how do you feel aobut this?

Katie

→ Fully support it; this is an opportunity for something that ASG can put its name on

→ It shows clubs and organizations that ASG puts value on this

Larry

→ Skyler, is it feasible?

Skyler

→ I don't see every club coming at once, so it should be

Katie

→ It's a great way to get club leaders involved

Lee

→ Their personal beliefs don't matter; but as a club on a campus that values inclusivity, they should be

able to talk about these things as leaders

Skyler

→ Accountable?

Lee

→ We should be holding people responsible for carrying out our statemet of community

Larry

→ What Lee is saying is that as student leaders, we are all accountable to uphold and contribute to our

Statement of Community

Brogan

→ I don't think that its fair to ask these clubs and organizations to do this if ASG hasn't already done it

→ Every single member of ASG, without exception, needs to have two out of three of these trainings

complete

→ If this continues, it needs to be introduced to the bylaws

Kevin

→ So you said earlier that Valerie wasn't happy that we made people get Safe Zone Training

Brogan

→ If this was going to be implemented, it's infair for ASG to stand behind something if ASG isn't

going to do it themselves

Lee

→ ASG is a bit exceptional because we have have 53 members

→ But there are several other trainings!

→ Bystander Training; ELR, CLC, etc.

Brogan

→ I'm aware that this is a step towards getting people to understand

→ But I think this is a community problem of people not wanting to be involved

→ And if ASG puts their name on it without having done it, it loses some of the value

Lee

→ Our inability to hold our student accountable is not an excuse

→ We should have already done it as individuals

→ This is literally just an experimental, let's see what happens thing

→ This isn't going to be a life-changing

→ It's a PR stunt

Kevin

→ Not quite

Lee

→ It's an ASG PR stunt for these trainings

Kevin

→ This is constitutional

Lee

→ What would PR look like?

Kevin

→ See Sloane

Sloane

→ There was an email sent out to coaches

→ My captain told us that we're all going to Bystander Training

→ If you're looking not to force people, PR-wise, you can talk to captains

→ I do understand the incentive

→ It's not going to be perfect and we're not going to find a solution

→ An incentive might lean more towards forcing people

Kevin

→ Have we gone to every

→ These trainings aren't our jurisdiction

→ They aren't our run issues

Lee

→ So what do we value as ASG?

Kevin

→ We value student opinion

Lee

→ I want student opinion to

Brogan

→ I think that we need to remember that Cabinet serves the Senate

Katie

→ A couple of weeks ago, when we were talking with Kazi and JoeDi about how to uphold our

Jake

→ 3 things

1. Given that there are no logistical impediments, we can go ahead and suggest it. Given the cost-
benefit of the time spent in training versus the payoff of the extra $100, I don't think that many people

would do it anyway, so the logistics shouldn't be a barrier

2. Why not talk to clubs and gauge their interest?

3. We talked about throwing an event...could this maybe be part of that?

Brogan

→ I still think that if ASG is behind it, we should require it

Lee

→ Clubs can go through this process if this is what they stand for

→ If not, then not

→ But again, its holding leaders accountable

Sloane

→ If my captains put this in for the next year, would the next year's captains choose to do this?

Brogan

→ It can be in the constitution as an option

→ So rising executive members can choose to do it

Larry

→ Is this $100 a one-time thing?

Lee

→ It's a one-time thing

Larry

→ I think that the writing should denote that

Katie

→ We're trying to change college culture

→ Its something that encourages people to

Kevin

→ I think we have to think about clubs on this campus

→ Clubs are very fluid

→ I don't think we should put things in their constitutions

→ It should be an option every year

Jake

→ Could we put it in the ASG Constitution instead?

Brogan

→ It would remove the

Lee

→ The federal government gave tax breaks to schools that desegregated. This is the exact same thing.

→ I expect maybe 10 clubs to do this

→ We just need to be transparent

→ Literally just saying that ASG supports these trainings that value inclusivity

→ Maybe nobody will do it, but we'll revise it for the next semester

→ So I don't understand the

Skyler

→ Make it fully clear

Brogan

→ Do you want a straw poll?

Lee

→ I'll bring a revised version to Senate on November 12th

Kevin

→ We'll talk about the agenda on Monday, but it you have a request, send it to Larry by Sunday

Meeting End: 1:20
